Commercial Assistant

Job Description

We are looking to expand of our commercial team and this has given rise to a position ideal for a person wishing to take their first steps towards a career in sales.

The role encompasses the entire commercial functions for the Company and offers a tremendous variety of activities ranging from the support of our sales team, to working with marketing campaigns and attendance at roadshows and other events.

  1. Qualification of new leads and incoming enquiries
  2. Provision of sales quotations and forecasting
  3. Working with the Sales Team to provide customer intelligence
  4. Working with Senior Account Managers to assist with customer relationships and sales support
  5. Working with the Marketing Team to help execute new campaigns and establish new sales promotions
  6. Working with Account Managers to establish likelihood of subscription renewals
  7. Management and execution of marketing campaigns and customer surveys, compilation of results
  8. Support of sales activities at trade shows and other external events
  9. Data cleaning, maintaining and updating of our Customer Relationship Management system
  10. Researching customers and market sectors via the telephone and the Internet
  11. Handling early stage customer order processing activities and liaison with the Business Support Team.

The position will report to the Sales Team Leader, which at this point in time is the Managing Director. Secondary report will be to the Office Manager.

The ideal candidate will be bright, honest, straight talking and well motivated with an eye for detail. You will be comfortable with making outbound telephone calls and working to deadlines. This is a hands-on role, so you will not be afraid of rolling up your sleeves and mucking in with everyone. 

Teamwork and personality count more than qualifications although this position will require good written and excellent verbal command of English. 

Excellent IT skills (based on MS Office) and knowledge of email and Internet will be essential.

Job Description

We are looking to expand our technical team and have created opportunities suitable for people looking to gain experience and technical insight into the world of electronics design automation. The internship/placement will be on a fixed-term contract which can be up to 12-months in duration.

Our technical team has built an enviable reputation for customer satisfaction and prides itself on going the extra mile. Based at our Head Office, the role encompasses both pre and post sales activities plus gives opportunities for becoming involved in teaching and development of applications notes, articles and product demonstrations. This role is extremely varied, however, the core duties include:-

  1. Manning of the customer telephone help line.
  2. The intern will be trained to assist our customers with pre or post sales technical queries.
  3. Operation of our support database and Internet-based systems will be required.
  4. Documentation of key operational areas of our software and provision of additional insight into the application of our software to specific operations.
  5. Communication of technical issues.
  6. Liaison with customer Account Managers to ensure that they are aware of any technical queries their customers have.
  7. Monitoring the Community Forums and new product announcements from Altium with a view to ensure that the Account Managers are properly up to date with the latest technical news and developments.
  8. Participation in workshops, roadshows, exhibitions and conferences.
  9. Working as part of the Premier team, providing technical resource for colleagues.

The internship will follow a structured induction programme and be provided with full training and guidance during the placement. There may be future opportunities for scholarships and even full-time employment if you impress during your time with us

Your skills

This is a hands-on role, so you will not be afraid of rolling up your sleeves and mucking in with everyone. The extensive range of applications and technologies employed by our customers requires our Applications Engineers to be jacks of all trades, with proven problem-solving skills and understanding of disciplines spanning Embedded Software, FPGA Hardware and PCB Design.

Teamwork and personality count more than qualifications although this position will require excellent command of English in both verbal and written forms (likely to be a native speaker). 

Excellent IT skills (based on MS Office) and knowledge of email and Internet will be essential. The successful candidate will have good working knowledge of various EDA tools, scientific software and analysis. Knowledge of a variety of electronics design processes, technologies and challenges will be a distinct advantage.

Qualification Requirements

Undergraduate study of Electronics Engineering (or equivalents).
